Beacon Hill

One of Boston’s most picturesque areas, tiny Beacon Hill has steep streets lined with Federal-style and Victorian brick row houses lit by antique lanterns. The gold-domed Massachusetts State House overlooks Boston Common, with its winter skating pond. Across Charles Street, home to chic boutiques and antiques shops, is the formal Public Garden. The Charles River Esplanade’s Hatch Shell hosts summer concerts. This exclusive area of Boston is one of Devon’s favorites and an enviable place to live.

About Living in Beacon Hill

America’s first professional architect, Charles Bulfinch, designed many of the dignified Federal and Georgian style homes. They were built for Boston’s Protestant merchant elite, known as the Boston Brahmins.

Since you are near Boston Common, walk just a little bit further to reach the Boston Public Garden, the country's very first public botanical garden. The scenery is beautiful and this is also where you'll find the iconic Swan Boats and "Make Way for Ducklings" statues, (great photo ops). If you're interested in learning about the park, take a 60-minute guided walking tour during the warmer weather months for a taste of its history, sculptures and more.
